"Agrias, it's alright... I'm here. It's Abigail... Please wake up, sweetheart..."
[glow=red,2,300]Beatrix stirred on her bed for a couple moments, slightly awake and thinking about how royally screwed she was. I should have spoken quicker, she thought, and shook her head. A tear peaked through her clenched eyelids and tumbled down her cheek before she shot up, her eye wide open now, and she turned directly to Abby, giving a somewhat confused and irritated look.
"Huh? Oh, greetings, Lady Abigail," she said with a light bow of the head, and started rubbing her forehead. "Ugh..." She looked about the room and saw Agrias; she frowned and turned in her place, the soldiers around her begging for her not to remove her IV unit or any of the other items attached to her.
Instead of listening, she did the opposite and stood up, and noticed Agrias' Save the Queen embedded in the wall nearby. Turning to look at Abby, she saw her own blade carved into the opposing wall. She scowled to no one in particular.
"What has been going on?"
She moved over to where her sword was and ripped it clean from the wood and examined it before sheathing. Afterward, she removed Agrias' blade and rested it on the end of the respective knight's bed.
"All right, status update. Now."[/glow]

Daphne shook in place, working on hours on several hours of heavy work, having downed about seven full pots of coffee. She worked with Sai for as long as she could, and when he asked of Beatrix' notes, she put a finger to her lip, pondering where last she saw them.
"Well the last time she was looking them over she put them away somewhere on her person; I don't know exactly where, you will have to ask her when she wakes up."
And then the Nobody told her she should get some rest; though he was, in fact, a Nobody, she sensed there was emotion in his speech. An act? Who cares...he's polite to her.
"I think you might be right, but I wish to help you in any way that I can. Please wake me if there is anything that comes up." She set down her work and brushed off her coat. Beginning to turn, she halted, and took his hand and shook it firmly.
"Thank you, Mister Sai. You're the first in a long time to take some interest in my work beyond the necessities." She bowed and walked off, a blushing grin painted on her face.

"Agrias, it's alright... I'm here. It's Abigail... Please wake up, sweetheart..."
Agrias rested there, her heart giving small palpitations here and there, though it was better from how it was several minutes ago... still. Her pale complexion was replaced with that natural, rosy, creamy color, and the fever was reduced. The woman continued to be unconscious, her brain-wave patterns seemed to slowly grow stable-- the only odd thing that remained was that hurt expression.
"We need you..."
Her head turned lightly to the side, and a single tear rolled down her smooth skin, disappearing into the cloth beneath her. The sword which was returned to her side would give out a strange, grieving sound, 'whom whah...mwohm..whaw...' as if breathing, and suffering- the blade seemed dull at some of the edges, and the glow was dim.
"Beatrix needs you... come on, wake up now..."
'Tis...all my... fault.' continued to echo through the Knight's mind, her head now tilting to the other side. The brain-wave machine connected to her seemed to run oddly, showing how troubled the blond's thoughts were...

Abigail watched Agrias' face with concern. The woman would still not wake... and from the readings on the makeshift brain scanner... she was having a very hard time. A tear would streak down her cheek, and Abigail would reach up to brush it away. "Please... sweetheart... wake up..." she whispered, before Beatrix suddenly stood up and started barking orders.
Abigail's face grew determined, and she spun around on the spot to face the woman, pointing right at her. "Oh, no!" she stated, one hand on her hip as she looked the woman right in her one eye. "You may be captain of the ship, General Beatrix, but when you're in the medical wing, you will listen to what your leading physician has to say, and with your head medical officer busy at the moment, that means me! So, first of all, sit down! You're in no condition to be up and moving just yet, not until I'm satisfied with a full checkup to make dead certain that you're in tip-top condition!"
The woman was on fire, her tone not insulting but commanding and strong. Her expression wasn't one of anger but of hard-earned leadership from years of helping people with nothing more than a first aid kit and the kindness of others. She grabbed a chair for Beatrix to sit down. "As for Status updates, YOU are dead..." she pointed at the monitoring equipment which was flatlined because Beatrix was too stubborn to listen to the nurses. "And Agrias is still unable to wake up. Now sit down, shush up, and for once since we've met, listen to what I have to say!" She crossed her arms, waiting for the woman to sit down.
"After I've checked on everything, and only after I've checked on everything, you can go back to telling everyone what to do, but until then if you try to leave I'm going to have every soldier on this ship hounding you to get you back here so I can make sure you don't pass out like this again, because with our kind of luck it'll happen when you're in the middle of a life-or-death situation!" She took a breath, calming a minute.
"Sorry... I have a lot riding on me right now, and I don't need this to add to it. Once we're done here, Captain, I do want to have a serious talk with you regarding the item I specifically asked you not to let Agrias see until we could both be there for her..." She turned around to check on Agrias now, leaving Beatrix to her own devices.
She prayed the woman would realize that she was right, that right now she needed to concede to her doctor's orders... Because the woman could easily drive that sword through her if she disagreed...

Leis, the head Doctor of the Medical wing stood quiet, and pale... not even SHE was able to talk to Beatrix in such a tone, and yet here was Abigail doing what everyone else feared. Maara, one of the soldiers shivered in place, backing away from Beatrix's location, being she was AWFULLY close to the General for this to happen!
A few other soldiers looked at each other, some mumbling heard farther from the two, and the ones closest would gulp, getting nervous. The Head Medical walked over to Abigail's side, gripping tightly at her pockets before swallowing... speaking.
"I..." Leis started, taking a big breath, which she thought would be her last, " ... a-..a-...agree with... Miss Abigail, General Beatrix..." she paused, looking between the two, then to Agrias, then to the Tuscan haired leader, " WH-...What happened was serious, Ma'am. Your heart nearly gave out...a-and, well, Agrias-- her heart stopped and Abigail was able to restart it... We need to run some tests to make SURE... everything is working properly. "
The doctor closed her eyes and brought a hand up to her chin, in question, " We have witnessed a Medical phenomena... and it must be looked at... so as to...um... check you out of... this room...so... uh" She pointed over to the chair Abigail had pulled out, "P-please sit...and... let us do our job?"

[glow=red,2,300]No one, no one, had ever spoken to General Beatrix in such a manner save for Her Majesty Queen Brahne. Beatrix stared into Abby's eyes for a moment while she spoke, just tilting her head and wondering what this girl must have been thinking to address The Merciless in this fashion.
When the chair was set before her she looked down, one hand rising to rest on its back, the other sitting on Save the Queen's hilt. She lowered her head a moment, thinking about what she might do next.
And then her Chief Medic spoke to agree with the young white mage, and Beatrix smiled. She hadn't known what to make of this Abby, but she was really starting to enjoy the new look.
"Very well," she said, an impressed look on her face. "You know, Lady Abigail, I never knew whether or not you'd be of any significance here on my ship--and before you take that in the wrong manner, let me continue--but I was wrong. You seem to have a deep connection to Lady Agrias. And though it might be very, very weak towards me, due to my nature and your utter disdain for it, I still sense a connection. You truly are worthy of a title of Sister of Light. I respect your tone with me, as I have been rather unreasonable of late, and will concede to your demands, only if to ensure that my fair Agrias is taken care of."
And she sat down, like Abby said!
"I just hope you see fit not to speak to me that way again while aboard." She smiled, hoping the girl would know she was being playful. For a moment, her eye color changed back to blue. She rested her hands together on her lap and looked over to Agrias. "Oh, Lady Agrias," she said. "Come on out...please."
For some reason she completely ignored the bit where Abby mentioned the page notes from the book. She shrugged.[/glow]

Leis walked over to check the IV and the other things attached to Agrias, checking the heart and brain-wave monitors quietly before raising an eyebrow, "Huh... maybe I should administer a boost... but..." The doctor frowned, crossing her arms a moment before turning to Abigail, " Her pulse has gone normal, blood pressure is somewhat high, and her brain..." she pointed over at an anomaly in the wave pattern, " ... It seems rather unstable... especially here... like a command or something is being repeated over and over..."
The doctor examined everything else, pondering something with the other two, " If I'm correct... her brain is sending out signals to heal the body, but there are no wounds to heal... at least superficial ones..." She reached over to move the upper vest of the knight a little, of course after the soldiers that were there were 'politely' asked to wait outside, " The muscle that you were able to place back, Miss Abigail, is not giving her problems. Everything seems fine, so whatever it is must be stress induced."
If only the doctor knew the whole story...
Leis walked over now to Beatrix, kneeling down to examine her eyesight, along with the pulse, and shoulder muscles now, " Eyesight is fine, Hmm... your muscles seem intact... nothing feels out of place..." she mumbled to herself, holding up the General's arms and testing her reflexes, " Are you feeling any discomforts, General Beatrix?" she would ask, now examining the woman's head for any bumps from the fall, "Do you feel any aches, or pains? Headache?"
She asked, finding a bump along the side of Beatrix's head.

The white mage couldn't help but smile a little while her back was to Beatrix. All that was said... it really boosted her spirits. Worthy of the title she had said. It made her happy. Although, when Beatrix referred to the unconscious knight as "her" Agrias... Abigail cringed lightly. At least she knew now how Beatrix felt on the matter... and though she prayed to Cosmos that Agrias didn't reflect this feeling... she had a strong feeling she did.
She closed her eyes and sighed, looking to the meters and nodding to the doctor's assessment afterwards. "She just needs rest at this point. I'd imagine she's been through a horrible shock and she just needs to work through it..." she reached down and gave Agrias' hand a very light squeeze. "It's up to her now, not us..."
She then turned around and looked to Beatrix, smiling a little despite being so demanding a moment or two ago. She reached over and looked at the chart Leis had been writing regarding the woman's health. "Mm-hmm..." she muttered, then set it down. "I think you're clear, Miss Bea... But do me a favor and no strenuous activity for the rest of the day, just so we don't have some kind of relapse..."
She noticed it... the change in her eye back to sky blue. She smiled slightly. She's healing... she thought to herself, then closed her eyes and sighed softly.
"And it's not that I have a weak connection to you, Miss Bea..." she added, trying to sound friendly. "It's just that I think I haven't exactly earned your respect until just now. I hope we can let bygones be bygones now and move forward as fellow Sisters..." she smiled brightly, then sat up. She giggled lightly when the woman made her request not to speak out of turn onboard again.
"Only if you really have it coming!" she teased back and winked. She picked up the chart and signed something, handing it back to Leis before picking up her cape. "We all need to clear out. Agrias needs time and rest. The monitors will alert us if there's any change. Bea, you're clear to leave but again take it ease, Leis... you look like you could stand a nap too..." she smiled, then made her way to the door. "Shoo shoo!" she said, and when everyone was out, she stepped out and closed the door.
She walked off by herself, needing a moment to reflect on this day. She found a place to sit near one of the railings so she could watch the beauty of Hyperspace zip by... before breaking down and crying into her hands. So much stress... and it was finally getting to her.
Agrias... Beatrix... all the troubles of the rescue... and she hadn't seen Ximar since they landed... She suspected he was gone. And all the while she had been scared and nervous... forcing it down for the sake of the moment. Now... she just had to let it all out. Alone...

"It's just that I think I haven't exactly earned your respect until just now. I hope we can let bygones be bygones now and move forward as fellow Sisters..."
[glow=red,2,300]A nod of approval and Beatrix stood up, and proceeded with the soldiers and some staff out of the medical wing. She placed a confident hand on the young white mage's shoulder and gave a reassuring squeeze. She turned to give Lady Agrias one more smile, hoping to send her all of the positive energies rushing through her body right now. Then she turned back to Abby, sighing.
"You honor me, my friend," she said with a smile, and for once ruffled the girl's hair. "Forgive me." And she walked outside, and spoke to several of her subordinates quietly about the ship's maintenance and new crew members.
"Just please start sending them to my suite immediately, all right? I think that when the names were written down, a Mister Sai was up first. Send him over." The soldiers saluted and toddled off to their work, one making a break over to the lab.
Then she turned and began walking to her quarters, seeing the lonely Abigail taking a break, looking as if she had broken from too much stress. She felt it would be inappropriate, but bee-lined over to her anyway, and knelt beside her.
"Miss...Abigail?" she said, reaching out to lift her chin up to look her in the eye. "Is everything all right, my lady? You are free to speak with me any time, you know. If you would like some privacy, please come to my suite and we'll talk. We might know each other very little, but this would also give us a new opportunity to make...friends. What is a team without close connections, yes?" She smiled, and stood up.
"You may come and speak to me any time, Lady Abigail," she said before walking off to her chambers to meet and greet the new crew members.[/glow]

So many possibilities. Sai had been reading and re-reading the notes a few times over, only to come to the same conclusions. Heartsteele, Chasers, and Xehanort. All were inexplicably connected by unseen chains, all intertwining to create a glorious whole, the Keyblade. If only he had the final secrets, but he had only 3 of 13 notes... Ten of them were still beyond his grasp. Where on earth could they be? He leaned forward, his fingers criss-crossing as he rested his chin upon them.
It had been a few minutes since he sent Daphne on her way. He found himself thinking on her now, while he sat and tried to think. She had provided a marvellous insight as to where he could locate some more notes, as well as offered further clues as to where they might find materials. Perhaps Xehanort had some ties to this Sigfried and knew where other locations were? It was a well known legend, after all... Sigfried, creator of Excalibur and other such legendary swords...
The nobody sighed softly, his thoughts drifting from the keyblade to the one who had just gone to bed. He wondered quietly if he had sent her on her way because she was obviously tired, or somthing else? Thinking on his memories of his whole self, he ascertained that he might have at one point been attracted to her. Women of knowledge had always been something of a weak point for his then complete heart. Glasses were a cute feature too.
He felt his chest lightly, looking down at the table. "Nothing..." he noted. It was a pity. Why did remembering what it felt like have to make the fact that he couldn't feel now so cruel? This emptiness, he didn't wish it on anybody. He certainly didn't wish for others to grow too attatched to him either. If all went as planned, he as Sai would no longer exist not much longer from now...
"Sir?" a voice behind him. Sai turned to see a soldier. "General Beatrix requests your presence in her quarters for interview."
"Yes, I understand," Sai said, picking up the notes to slip in his pocket (no reason to leave them behind and risk losing them). He left the lab and went into the hall. He walked right past the two on the deck, ignoring their drama in favor of going where he needed to be. He figured if Beatrix was busy, it was best to wait for her where she would expect to find him, anyway.
Once there, Sai left the door slightly ajar, so as not to alarm the General upon her entry. He did not take a seat, remembering that it was rude to do so without being invited, but rather began to examine the decor on the walls. He looked down and noticed a book on the floor a moment later, and picked it up. Turning it in his hands, he examined the spine.
"The Legend of the Knights and the Zodiac..." he muttered, then began to read. Why not? Legends had been proving quite useful to him as of late...

Abigail blinked when Beatrix arrived, and quickly wiped her tears away. She smiled sheepishly as the woman tilted her head up. This was another one of those gestures she didn't quite now how to respond to. Add to this the ruffling of her hair, and she felt like Beatrix was treating her like a kid sister and not a peer, though she tried to shrug it off as one of those things she did for luck, like how Agrias did.
She shook her head lightly, sniffing to keep her nose from running. "Oh!" she said, trying to seem light. "Yes, I know... I just... It's been a terribly long day... with so much on my mind and weighing down my heart..." she smiled again, holding a hand over her chest lightly. "I just needed to let it out... I'm not the type to bottle it all up. But thank you, for your offer..."
She smiled, and watched as the woman went off to interview the newcomers. She sighed, and stood up to go. Maybe she would go find Lilith? She still needed to ask Lilith about that slap...

[glow=red,2,300]"Very well," she said, before continuing.
While she walked she drew Save the Queen, noting all the transitions it went through in the past several months. She examined all the cracks, color change, and aura, and quietly apologized.
She sheathed it again and pressed on, bumping into several soldiers along the way who had to stop her and tell them how ecstatic they were to see she was well again. It was flattering, but it also grew tiring after some time. Right now she just wanted to relax in the confines of her room and meet new people. Before, she had every intention of having them all murdered, in case they would pose a threat; now, however, she was interested. They did, after all, assist in the Battle of Naught.
When she reached her suite, she noticed her door slightly ajar. Funny, she thought, pushing it open to find Sai standing and reading a blue-bound book. At least some people know manners.
"Do forgive my tardiness," she said, closing the door behind her as she made her way to the desk and sat, looking over the papers replaced on its surface.
"Mister...Sai, is it?" she said, glancing upward, and giving him a look. She noticed he was reading the very same book that began this whole mess, and raised an eyebrow.
"Interested in legends, I see?" She smiled, and picked up the papers relating to Sai. She read the few pages and then set it upside down next to her pile, and sat back in her chair and folded her hands dutifully.
"Please, sit down," she said, directing him to one of the chairs directly across from her own. "Let us begin this, shall we? Full report. Who are you, why are you here, what can you offer? You get the picture, yes? I sense a lack of feeling in you; does that make you a Nobody, then? Or just boring? I hope the former." She chuckled, trying to give the room a more comfortable air, so this would seem less awkward than it was.[/glow]

Sai looked up as the woman entered. He had only gotten a few chapters in, being a swift reader, but that would have to wait. He closed the book without incident, the page number memorized in the span of half a second. He sat it down on her desk lightly and politely as she began.
"Do forgive my tardiness," the General began. Sai watched as she entered, noting a very different sense about her as she did.
"There is nothing to forgive..." Sai stated bluntly, his eyes never leaving her, more to show respect than anything else. "The demands of a General are many, and doubled with the responsibility of captaining a ship the size of this vessel. Further, you've just returned and I do imagine your usual punctuality is somewhat haulted by your current state of mind and the minor trip to the hospital wing you just endured..." very obervant, wasn't he? "Mister...Sai, is it?" the woman pressed forward, "Interested in legends, I see?"
The Nobody nodded as she sat. "I am Sai. In name and title, so the formality of 'mister' is not necessary, though if you so desire you may use it." He paused, then looked to the book. "Legends have served me well, as they find a wellspring in truth. I do hope you forgive my presumptuousness in reading this tome. It was laying on the floor when I arrived and I suspected a longer wait when I saw you speaking with Miss Abigail Crescentlight."
Sai looked to her, and sat when she asked him to. "Let us begin this, shall we? Full report. Who are you, why are you here, what can you offer? You get the picture, yes? I sense a lack of feeling in you; does that make you a Nobody, then? Or just boring? I hope the former."
Sai nodded, sitting stiffly in the chair. He removed his wide-rimmed hat so he may sit properly without the rim tilting upward and making him look the fool. He rested it on his knee, his silvery hair falling in something of a mess around his features, still concealing that one eye so the other stared at her emotionless unobscured. He never removed his scarf, though it did not hinder his words in the slightest.
"As I have stated, I am Sai. I am a Nobody as you suspected, and I make no attempt to act otherwise. To pretend to have a heart is pointless, a waste of energy, and in my eyes an insult to the memory of what was lost. I refuse to make myself so foolish." He closed his eyes a moment, considering everythign he needed to say.
"As for why I am here, I came in the hopes of finding more of these..." With this, he reached into his coat pocket and produced Keyblade Notes #13, the one he generally showed others when asking around since it gave the least amount of information away. As he held it for Beatrix to see, he continued. "I was put under the impression that you might be in possession of some of these papers by several individuals. If you so desire, I can provide names, though I assure you each is close to you and is a relyable enough source. My ship was damaged, so I could not simply follow in my own vessel, and this one was in need of someone with knowledge of how to access the World that Never Was."
He paused, resting the paper on the desk so she could observe it. "Now that we are here. I must ask if you do have in your possession other papers that bear this handwriting. It is essential that I gather them as soon as possible so I may study their contents. I am endevouring to create a keyblade, you see."
He had to judge her reaction here. The darkness could still be smelt on her, though it was minimal now. If he was tense at all about this, he did not show it. "As a Nobody, my goal is to reunite with my heart... and become whole. This is the route I have chosen. I know where my heartless can be found, and once I have the weapon in hand, it is only a matter of time and patience... As for what I have to offer, I am knowledgable in many advanced Gummi systems as I had a hand in the development of the Radiant Garden project, which produced many new ships. Further, I am an incredibly fast learner, and as such am a valuable asset to your crew, if temporarily. I regret to inform you that once we reach your Prince's Castle, I fully intend to search his library for notes and afterwards be on my way to locate the missing pages. I hope you do not see this as judgement on yourself, your vessel, or your crew as all have been exemplory in hospitality towards myself and the others who came with me, but as I stated before, these notes are my primary concern."
With this, Sai fell silent once more. His hands fell to his lap, and he sat very much like a royal advisor though he did not intend to. He glanced over to the book once more before looking to Beatrix. "Further, I could repair your tome for you. I noticed the final chapter was removed when I picked it up..."

[glow=Red,2,300]Beatrix listened as Sai spoke, nodding here and shaking her head there, and trying to get to know this man. When he spoke to her in such a refined manner, she was glad for it. Such a long time since someone new knew the ways of old.
"All right, Sai the Nobody. That is very noble of you, to adhere to your kind...unlike some notables out there running around." She shrugged her shoulders and gasped slightly as the man produced his Keyblade Notes. She grabbed the rare page and consumed the writing hungrily, even though she already had vast knowledge on the weapons themselves, due to her former master Maleficent.
"You intend to craft one, you say? Well, I honestly say I wish it were easy for you, but you do not have a heart. It would be simple to conjure a Keyblade as a Nobody had you already possessed one in life, but you did not. A Nobody does not have the balance of light and dark that comes with having a heart and therefore is unable to finish the transmutation." She sighed, producing the false Note by mistake and set it down, and took out the other two, as well.
"These are all I have, but I'm afraid I can not give them to you without something in return." She set them down and folded her hands together once more and stared the man down with interest.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]"Gummi systems, you say? That would be valuable, indeed. The only one who has full understanding of this technology aboard Red Rose is my Head of Research and Development, Professor Daphne Winters. A loyal knight and a respected pool of knowledge. You could seek her out for scientific conversation, as I am not well versed as she."
Beatrix leaned back in her chair again and nodded, thinking about the other things Sai had said. "Hm...I would look at this Note first," she said to Sai, tapping the false Note Shego had made and pushed it over to the Nobody's side of the desk. She couldn't yet put full trust in the man, so she had to test him. Shego's forgery was perfect; or at least it would have been, had she not given it to Beatrix, whose many tasks in Alexandria included investigations into such documents, among other things.
"Read it carefully, as it shows much wisdom. And what is it you said about fixing this?" she said, and lifted her book. "Repair it? That would be lovely, but I think the value's worn out. Of course, where would I sell such a thing? And for what reason? Sentimental value is of much more importance than currency...if you could, I would be greatful."[/glow]

Sai leaned forward, collecting the three notes calmly. He quickly read them over, memorizing their contents in case they were taken away. Inwardly, he knew that he'd be leaping for joy right now, three notes all at once! It was like christmas, but better. Except...
Sai looked notes #3 over again. It mentioned Drifters... but that didn't add up! He pulled out his other notes, #7 and held it up against the one in his hand. Drifters... Chasers. One of these held false information. His eye focused sharply, a new layer of the mystery revealled to spite him. How many more trials must he endure before he could finally be whole?? At least on the back of one of them, there was a clue to his next destination. New York Public Library, 1991 was stamped there... as though it had been checked out as part of a book at one point or another...
And then she pointed out something that he hadn't considered. What if because he was a Nobody, he was unable to craft the weapon? He looked down, considering this a moment. "Even if I cannot... I will have gathered the notes, and can pass the information into the hands of one who can. In return, I would ask that they champion my cause..."
He looked up, setting the notes down softly in his lap. "One of these is fake, by the way," he stated calmly. It wasn't an accusation, but a statement of simple fact. "The information is inconsistent. I need to run a spectrogram on them now to see if I can determine which of the notes is in fact a clever forgery. This may take more time than I had anticipated, though it would afford me more time to discuss my findings with your head science officer... Daphne..."
That pang in his voice. There it was again. He couldn't explain it at all, he knew he couldn't FEEL anything, but whenever that woman was brought up, his voice had such a curious way of sounding almost forlorn and full of regret. He didn't understand.
