"She was right," grumbled the duke, shifting on his rock uneasily, his shoulders hunched as he glared around at the others, silently despising them all for not making him comfortable just this instant. "Because of that Heartless we're doomed to die out here in the cold of darkness. Is anyone going to go get firewood? Gah...where is Cobalt when I need him?"As Brass droned on and on about how miserable he was, and how miserable they made him feel, bemoaning his existence simply because The Fallen had sent them his way, the Sorcerer-Prince of Oz had a thought come to mind.
When given time earlier to skim through the Grimorum Ex Magus, taken from Demona back in Manhattan, he had come across a particular spell near the back that really caught his attention. He'd been in situations in the past when he was stranded in places where comfort was non-existent, like Elphaba's castle dungeon, for example. He'd wished not only to save Dorothy, if only just to gaze upon her once more, but he also wanted to be somewhere other than that musty cellar.
Taking out the dust-covered tome from his bag he unlocked it and began flipping through pages until reaching the back, where he found that very spell which could save them from what Brass called "sure death by cold".
"If you'll be quiet a moment," said Masheck, removing Wall-E from his lap and replacing it with the book. "I believe I have found a solution to our problem."
Rising, he read the page through several times before glancing up at the others to inform them of his plan. Pulling out his wand he directed it towards the pile of rocks Beatrix had sat upon earlier and flicked it, causing the stones to stir and rise, stacking one onto the other and molding themselves to each other. When it formed a makeshift podium of sorts he walked over and set down the open book and got to work. Removing several items from his pouch and bag he positioned them in a circle around the false altar. He wouldn't turn to see if the others gawked at his silent behavior.
When the preparations had been made, he backed away from the podium with the collected Grimorum and turned to everyone.
"I will be providing us with a shelter," he said simply, and then turned back to his circle. Walking the length he'd made clockwise, dropping down salt, he chanted quietly the ancient words written on the page and then did the same with the next verse in a counter-clockwise motion.
"Marble, granite, wood and glass...
Something fitting for those in high class...
Food and shelter, brought into the weave...
Give Room for us all, to let us breathe.
I call upon the power of Merlin's Magnificent Mansion, now mote it be!"
The circle made by material trinkets began to glow, followed by the lines of salt laid down surrounding the makeshift altar Oeilvert had made, and soon, the entirety within his spell-making area shone brightly. The sorcerer had to cover his eyes a moment, but when he saw through the small gaps between his fingers that the light had died down he gazed fully upon the location once more.
Replacing what had once been there now stood a shimmering arched doorway, made completely out of black marble encrusted with gold, adorned with two beautiful stained-glass windows embedded in the mahogony doors in-between. The image of it was blurry, and would be completely invisible to the others until he gave the command to let them see.
"Paradise," he said aloud, and soon the others would find that some feet before the sorcerer lie the same blurry arched gateway he saw. Waving a hand, the double doors swing open, revealing only a white light inside, which would inhibit their vision of what lay beyond until they entered.
With a bow the sorcerer turned to face the group once more. "I have secured our lodgings," he said, moreso to the duke whom Masheck hoped would quiet down soon after.(And this is what the interior will look like...there is no exterior except the door, as it's just a magical dimension) Level 1 Level 2

Instead of shaking the general's hand as she'd grown to expect, he turned around and did the complete opposite: patting her shoulder in a gentle manner, giving her a warm feeling in her stomach.
"Is it really me you want forgiveness from?"
Another surprise. She had not expected this, either. She assumed that the Nobody would either dryly accept her apology or tell her to get lost, but instead he answered her clumsily-proposed apology with yet a new question. Did General Beatrix truly seek forgiveness now from Sai?
Staring now at her feet she grew unsure of what was going through her head now. Many of her thoughts were set to the side, allowing her worries about Agrias to dominate. Where could she possibly be? Was she alright? Would they ever see each other again?
"You already knew that I didn't care one way or the other... So long as the Fallen meets his end. Frankly... I used to dilude myself into thinking I merely wanted to be whole again, as all Nobodies do. But looking at this..."
She picked up her head and gazed into his visible eye as he spoke, listening intently with a gentle smile until he had finished.
In conclusion to his speech he had asked the general to do what he decided may not be possible: destroy Atticus. Was Sai giving up? It sure seemed like that, which made Beatrix frown at him, her eyes quivering, glazing over with wetness as she took in his plea for her promise.
"...When you meet the Fallen, keyblade in hand... do whatever it takes to stop him. No matter if I'm there or not. This has to end..."
Sai...
She drew up her hand and this time grabbed his, and cupped her other over it. Lowering to one knee--yes, it may have looked odd, but she had her way--she bowed her head. "I will do all in my power to see this through to the end, no matter what obstacles I face. The Fallen will take his final breath upon our chosen day...and I will make sure that you are with us so that I will not have to keep such a promise..."
Again she frowned, and glanced up, again staring into his forlorn-looking eye. "I trust that you will succeed...but yes, if I must, I will drive the Keyblade into that heart of malice once and for all."
When she had finished she rose back to her feet and turned. She thought about what he'd said and mulled over that which she'd promised. I won't let you give up... About to walk off as he'd suggested, she had a momentary urge to stop, which she did and spun around fast and grabbed the Nobody, pulled him in close and gave him a warm hug. This time she told him herself what she'd thought.
"I won't let you give up, Sai."
Releasing the Nobody, she gave him a determined smile and left him, returning to where the others stood, the scenery somewhat changed. When she tilted her head, confused, Oeilvert repeated the command to allow her to see the doorway and she just stood there, amazed, hoping for one of them to elaborate.

Culaki simply watched as the others made arguments or expressed their dislike of the current situation. He simply began to rest his aching body, the water working its magic on his thirsty insides. His temperature settled from burning hot to comfortably toasty, and his tongue lolled from the side of his mouth as he began to pant.
He yawned, his pink tongue curling up inside of his mouth as his white, razor-sharp fangs came into view momentarily. Then the tension seemed to come to a head as Sai Blue-Hair revealed something about himself. Culaki listened, his ears swiveling like radio dishes as he bathed his cuts.
"Att-ick-us number two..." Culaki mused to himself. Everyone else had a much larger reaction, from Abigail's outburst of frustration, to Beatrix's exclamation of surprise, to Lothar's bemoaning of the entire plains and their predicament. Culaki continued to wash himself with his tongue, for the most part unharmed.
Then Sai Blue-Hair came back to the group after assembling his gum-me contraption with the strange blocks, and mentioned something about light, the years in light, and how a red rose had been alerted to their predicament. Culaki perked his ears curiously. A flower? Coming to save them? These people were getting stranger by the minute!
The man with the green hat stood, moving the small box-bot Wall-E away from him as he arranged some sort of shiny objects on the ground. Culaki crept forward to investigate, shiny things being a favorite of his. His tail swished as he wiggled, preparing to pounce, when all of a sudden...
Boosh! The trinkets began to glow, and a shimmering doorway appeared once the man said "Pair-a-dice". Culaki quirked his head, watching as double doors opened up, revealing a lavishly decorated interior. He surmised that the construction and quality rivaled even the best of Lothar's dwellings. But he couldn't be sure. He stood to his feet, roaring loudly to summon over his three comrades who had journeyed with him from Sin.
"It seems as though these people have secured lodging for us. Culaki wishes for his people to join him, and hopefully you and he will enjoy safe passage though the night from these shadow-beasts."
It was quite a sight to see, really! A procession of blue fur, red fur, amethyst fur, and emerald fur, all intermixed with various shades and patches of white, black, and a myriad of other colors. With Culaki leading the way, the leader of his proud tribe of Ronso, the gigantic cats walked through the door, disappearing to the right.
Once inside, Culaki walked along the floor, the pads of his feet making no noise. Opening a door down the hallway on his left, he saw the glow of a fireplace, and beckoned for one of his kind to join him, motioning for the other two to go into the room across the hall. He poked into the room, leaving the door open.
Curling his bulk in front of the fireplace, his Ronso partner joined him, and he began to wash her affectionately, enjoying the ambient heat from the fire and her company. A deep purr sounded from her chest, and she rolled playfully over as he began to wrestle with her.
Careful not to damage anything, they rolled to and fro several times, communicating with mewling and the occasional playful or territorial growl. Slinking towards the door, Culaki led her out, looking out for the others. Her ruby fur almost seemed to glisten from the large chandelier lights in the hallway.
He cast his gaze across the hall, where his second-in-command, Jaglen Ronso was with his partner, Savra Ronso. His own partner, Feynya Ronso, stretched out onto the floor next to her, and he leapt atop her, beginning to wrestle once more. As the others came in, they would see blue and red intermingling as Culaki and his partner romped on the floor of the hallway...

Though Beatrix had expected an explanation from the others, it was clear the Ronso would not be one to inform her; Brass, however, would have, but decided not to, only because he just wanted to get inside and be warm.
With a harrumph he stood and disappeared through the doors, appearing in a well-lit hallway inhabited by a single entity other than himself. A seemingly half-transparent servant walked about the halls, checking in on the feline creatures what had entered prior, and the duke passed by it quickly, moving into the room directly across from the entrance, plopping himself down on a couch at the room's far wall.
After several minutes of spreading out on the sofa, trying to get himself comfortable, one of the strange, ghostly servants intruded, keeping the doors open and offered hims something to drink; ordering the creature as if it were one of his own slaves, the being left to boil up some water for a large mug of hot chocolate. While the servant was busy, Brass stared through the doors and across the hall, waiting for the others to come in. He wouldn't admit it, but he'd like some conversation.

Abigail sighed at the back-and-forth of Ellin and Beatrix. She sighed a little, feeling that two such strong feelings on the matter would have a hard time finding common ground, at least until Beatrix saw with her own eyes the ones they were speaking of, the ones that were born of the darkness directly and possessed literally no hearts, yet could love and be happy. She wished she'd have had time to show Bea the children...
Shaking her head, Abigail watched as Sai approached, made his statement, and walked off. Frankly, she was still blinded by science as he did, unable to really catch what he said. "Radios move as fast as light?" she asked, baffled while Bea ran off to speak with Sai. Abigail would have as well, but she felt a little embarassed that she had lost her cool with him, and couldn't bring herself to speak to the Nobody of Atticus just yet...
Instead, she looked to what Oeilvert was doing, and just in time to see the door appear. She gasped, and smiled a bit, running over to peek in curiously. "OOoh!!" she cried out, amazed by this. "How pretty!!" she said, running inside a moment to take it all in. She went up and down the halls, then up and down the stairs, exploring everything at high speed before running back down to the door. "It's huge! What an amazing skill!!" she said, then looked over to the approaching Beatrix.
"Bea, Bea! Oeilvert made us a place to stay with his book! You gotta come in and see this!" she said happily, then looked to Ellin. "Hey! Come with me, let's go make everyone something to eat!" she said, then ran back inside. She went left and left again to go to the supplies room, gathering up what she'd need to make a huge pot of chicken and dumplings. She knew a way to make this swiftly, so it seemed a good dish to prepare.
"C'mon, Ellin, to the Kitchen! FOR FULLNESS!" she giggled, and went off to start cooking...

Wall-E was a little startled with Oeilvert set him down and began working on something that seemed unrelated to anything else. However, being a good friend, Wall-E did his part to help by roving over and helping move rocks as specified by Oeilvert. When they were done, the little robot moved next to the wizard, watching curiously what exactly they were doing.
Then suddenly, a blast of light and a door! Looking in, Wall-E could see that there was a mansion on the other side, but... wait... what? He rolled over and looked inside, then behind the door, seeing nothing there. "Whoooah..." Wall-E whistled, waving his hand behind the door to prove to everyone that there was nothing there. When the Ronso went in, he stood on the other side, trying to see what happened that they would suddenly disappear!
"Woooooo....." he whirred, looking at the others with a suprised expression. "Wow..."
Once they were inside, Wall-E followed Brass inside, all the way into the first room, where he climbed onto a seat next to the Duke. It took some doing, but the robot was able to heft himself up and sit down, his treads dangling over the edge like oversized feet, which Wall-E reached out to touch the toes of, looking over with an innocent expression. Brass might have liked this construct, except for one minor flaw.
Wall-E was positively filthy. That fact was obvious from the tracks he left everywhere he had been in this mansion, and the wide circle of muck on the couch. Still, who could resist those binocular eyes?

"Bea, Bea! Oeilvert made us a place to stay with his book! You gotta come in and see this!"
Blinking several times as first a pack of Ronso, then the Brass Duke and later Abigail and Ellin disappeared through the strange rift-like door, General Beatrix was paralyzed in place. However, when she saw even now that Wall-E was running on his treads to figure out this sorcery, then giving up to just go inside, she shook her head.
Turning to Oeilvert she nodded her head. "Thank you very much, then," she told the prince, giving him a smile. "That was very kind of you, considering I only asked for someone to grab wood for a fire." Brushing by him she wrapped an arm around his neck and gave a light squeeze before releasing him.
She took a moment to peer into the sky, wondering once more where her 'Light' was. After a while she came back to reality, patted the sorcerer's shoulder and disappeared into the Mansion.
Once inside she looked around pacing down hallways and peering into doors. Wrestling Ronso, awkward stares between duke and robot and...Abby!
"By Alexander, are you cooking?" she asked, and closed the kitchen door behind her. "I would like to assist you, or just simply watch, if you don't mind," she said, sitting at one of the table chairs.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As each member of this new, unorganized group passed him by he smiled, happy to give them comfort in a world doomed to destruction. Like Beatrix he gazed up into the black sky, thinking about Dorothy, Ozma and the others, as well as the current state of this "Kingdom Hearts" they spoke of. Damaged? Broken?
He noticed that Sai and apparently Miss Go hadn't gone in yet and decided to go to where he saw the Nobody. Hoping not to annoy the man by interrupting he moved in slow and bowed, not touching Sai.
"Excuse me," he said, then stood back up. "I have opened a gateway to a special, secret dwelling that the others will be utilizing for the duration of our stay here. While you and Miss Go await your other friend and the Red Rose, would you like to come in? I believe the White-clad girl--Abigail--is cooking up supper."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile Brass had been joined by a tinker toy which had been covered in all manner of rust, stains and a whole mess of other confusions. The duke gawked, the whole room temperature growing cold because of the awkward tension beaming within.
At last he could take no more and moved over to where Wall-E sat and collected him, setting him on the coffee table to clean and examine him. Pulling out several tools and cleaning supplies from his pouches, as well as drawing magic circles on the sqaure cloths he had and conjuring other necessary materials, he worked on the golem, hoping that it wouldn't protest.
"You're going to have to just calm down and be patient. I've never seen something like--you're a wind-up, eh? Hm..."
As he worked and cleaned he twisted the golem's keys, just so that it wouldn't shut down in the middle of his progress. How dare he not witness the glory of his work?
By the time Wall-E was fully gone over and had a keen shine, Brass was attempting to converse with it in--literal--whirring sounds, sort of like a bird. When he got a blank stare he frowned.
"Can you speak?"

Sai turned his attention sideways as another came to call. This time it was the other mage, Oeilvert who had words for him. Remaining still, Sai listened to everything before speaking, though he looked off as he did so.
"I appreciate your concern..." a bold-faced lie "But I will be fine out here. Our guest should arrive soon, and I will join shortly thereafter. I have no concern for cold or hunger or thirst, so 'creature comforts' are unnecessary for me. You on the other hand... will require warmth and food shortly. Go on ahead..."
With that, Sai fell silent... waiting.

"Very well, then," he said, smiling. "Paradise. There, now you will be able to pass safely through the doorway when you come." He turned soon after and huddled together with his arms, walking back to the magical door what led inside the mansion, shivering from the growing cold.
Inside he went directly to the kitchen to sit with Abby and Beatrix.

Abigail looked over her shoulder, spotting Beatrix entering and Oeivert not long behind her! She giggled somewhat, seeing how eager some people were to eat. She put her hands on her hips, shaking her head a bit before pointing a wooden spoon she found on the table at Oeilvert.
"Now, now! The kitchen's no place for men!!" she said, smiling widely. How many times had boorish boys told her something similar about the battlefield? She just felt justified here. "Shoo! Go sit in the parlor and tell stories or something! Some of us have actual work to do!" she said as she walked over and formally, but gently, shoved the wizard out into the hall. "You can wait with the boys..." she said, turning to the others with a bright smile.
"Now, then!" she said, winking. "Let's get to work, then!" she reached into her bag of holding and produced a small notebook which she generally used for writing down materials she'd need for medicines and such. Instead, she'd be writing down ingredients and directions for each person in the room. Walking over, she handed one note to Beatrix.
"You can make the batter for the dumplings..." she said, then walked over to Ellin while writing another note. "And you can prepare the chicken while I..." she wrote down her own directions too, to be fair. "Will work on the vegetables and get the soup ready..." Looking up again, she giggled happily. "Okay! Off with the gloves, and wash your hands!" On that, she'd get ready and start peeling potatoes and cutting up carrots.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, in the parlor, Wall-E would be flailing lightly while Brass worked. It was to be expected, because really who sits still while someone else bathes them? Brass worked, and Wall-E begrudgingly allowed it at first, before starting to purr mechanically at random times. Apparently, Brass knew how to brush the cogs the right way!
Then, after that was done, Wall-E blinked a bit to see that Brass was speaking mechanically! He tilted his head, staring for a moment... a long moment. There was an awkwardness there until Wall-E began to burble and whirr strangely, flailing his hands about and telling his entire life story from rolling off the assembly line all the way up to how he ended up here. He covered every character, every event, and sometimes lingered on aspects about Eve that gave away his feelings for her. When he finished, he waved his arms happily and gestured to everywhere they were.
"Ta-daahhh" he sang, formally finishing the tale... Now to see if Brass was at least somewhat impressed...

It was soon apparent that Brass was less socially rotten with artificial life than he was with organic when he began speaking with Wall-E in their strange dialect. Hearing the construct's story, the duke nodded, chuckled and even frowned at the more dramatic, upsetting bits of Wall-E's story, even offering mild suggestions about how to cope.
Finally, when the robot was all cleaned up he set it back down on the coffee table to examine his work, folding his arms and scratching his chin thoughtfully. A fine piece of work, back when he'd first been built...but for so long there was no way to tell, until the duke had gotten to him.
"Now, though I do admire the fact your maker added keys, we've reached a new century; did you know that my golems run solely on the gears and magical power I've put in them? I could give you an upgrade..."
Unlike most in his profession the duke was not one to write down blueprints for anyone else to work from. Instead he did all his thinking and planning in his head. After a while he snapped his fingers, grinning down at the mechanical creature.
"I've got it. I'll fix you up real good with some of the same modifications my golems have."
For the third time he moved Wall-E, this time setting him on the sofa beside him and reached into his pouch for some chalk. Then, clearing off the table he began jotting down another spell circle, adding some gears and other such pieces he'd been carrying along with him. After chanting several words he returned Wall-E to the table, in the direct center, and put a hand on the chalk circle while he recited the final words.
A moment later Wall-E would be enveloped in a brass-colored light, only to reappear moments later with no keys, an addition to his arms: new weapons and utilities, and a crystal inset which held his soul fire.
"Alas!" he called with that little hint of mechanical superiority.

Hearing this Oeilvert blushed and hastily scurried out of the kitchen, bumping into the chuckling Beatrix as she stood to move around the table near Abby.
When out of earshot she turned to the ice box and peered inside, grabbing a jar of milk and setting it on the counter. "You know," she said to Abby, never taking her eyes off the counter as she got to work setting up ingredients for the batter. "I was never able to grab the attention from any Alexandrian men in the castle for too long once you mentioned the word 'kitchen'. I actually had to tell Captain Steiner that I did not believe he even could cook to get his help. Not that he could, however, but still."
Chuckling again she plucked some apples out from the counter bowl and moved them into a pie bowl for later slicing, and used the other for mixing the batter.
"One night when Queen Garnet was small, she proposed that we make a grand meal and stage a wedding afterwards. Steiner assisted me only once in all our years at kitchenwork...and yet he still managed to ruin the coleslaw. It was perversely satisfying."
As she mixed and set that bowl aside, getting to work now on slicing up apples for the pie she'd make for dessert, she began humming to herself the song from her memory, the song she sang with Agrias one beautiful night.
Her thoughts were trained on the Holy Knight...
I hope she is alright...

Post by Ellin Destroix on Oct 24, 2010 21:26:02 GMT -5
Ellin was quiet, watching as the Palace was made practically out of nothing, she only pointed and stared. ".... ... ... ... Mansion..." she said bluntly, in disbelief it was in front of them. She then turned to the green mage, a look of worry-- what if someone was UNDER that house?? She shrugged the feeling, no one would ever be so blind as to be crushed by a house...much less a mansion. The dark knight finally smiled, watching everyone "ooo" at the massive building, especially Abigail.
She crossed her arms and tilted her head to one side, watching the white mage 'geek' out to what was in front of them, then suddenly.
"Hey! Come with me, let's go make everyone something to eat!" said the white mage to her direction, those blue hues looking to her own dark lavender eyes. This caused her to blush somewhat, whenever such kind attention was payed by the ever loving White Mage. She cleared her throat a little and smiled, rushing after her to the kitchen, "C'mon, Ellin, to the Kitchen! FOR FULLNESS!"
"For Fullness!" The knight repeated, chuckling afterward as they got to the kitchen and began to take out ingredients for a feast. She would handle some of the heavy loads, and taking out the chicken from the stock (Thankfully it was already dead, so she did not feel guilty when it came to consuming it-- a dark knight needed meat after all.)
It was around this time when Beatrix came in, and asked for assistance. Abigail was right on it, as leader of the kitchen group.
Me heart beats funny around her, she thought, smiling goofily as she looked away to her things.
She placed all the ingredients aside, and retreated to the corner of the kitchen momentarily to remove her heavy armor-- giving her flexibility about the kitchen. Underneath the armor, gauntlets and all, was a rather pale girl wearing a layer of black; a long turtle neck with long sleeves would cover her top, and tight pants would cover the bottom. Underneath the gauntlets would be blood stained gloves where she'd have to cut herself in order to use her powers. Ellin sighed a little, removed and hid them from sight, wanting not the others to see the depressingly worn out gloves.
The pale girl moved the armor to the corner where it would bother no one, went to wash her hands and arms ( running the sleeves up to her elbows as she did so) and set off to work on that chicken as instructed by Captain Abby! Ellin didn't notice how quiet she had been, since Beatrix spoke of the past, and Abigail was being her cheerful self... this feeling was so new, she didn't know how to approach it.
... She had never in the past spent time with people of the light that accepted her for who she was. The dark knight smiled quietly to herself and continued on. She took out a butcher's knife from one of the cabinets after washing the chicken and set off to cut it, separating bone from meat expertly.

Culaki continued to roll around in the hallway with Feynya, occasionally stopping to swat at her playfully as they continued to romp down the hallway. He entered the room where his other Ronso were, poking his head in to make sure all was well, then moved his large bulk to peek into the living room.
That was when he saw Brass conversing with Wall-E, and he tilted his head curiously. His tail swished, an obvious target for Feynya, and he didn't realize this until it was too late. He opened the door to turn, and his partner tackled him, driving them across the floor to romp around several feet from Lothar.
His playful yowls echoed throughout the room, and after a few minutes (hopefully not -TOO- terrifying for the Brass Duke), he disentangled himself and led his partner to the kitchen, where his nose was picking up the scents of savory meat and some sort of broth.
Spices that he had never smelled wafted through the air, and his tongue tightened as the scents made his mouth water. Easing open the door as quietly as he could, he stealthily slipped inside, his partner following. He simply sat patiently on his haunches, Feynya following suit.
Settling himself a bit behind Ellin at the back of the kitchen, Culaki nuzzled against her hand affectionately, even licking her arm as a friendly purr escaped from his chest. He settled back on his haunches, simply waiting to be shooed out or offered small tidbits of food before the meal...

[glow=green,2,800]** From Neverland, A Giant Retreat **
A corridor opened just a few feet away from Sai and Ms. Go and from it came a woman wearing green and black clad, bearing the sign of the Nobody on her back. She seemed to be in no alarm, not any panic, she simply strolled in to make eye contact to the one who hard the Heart Steel. She blinked once to the man, making his presence known to her before continuing to business.
"I received word you have the Heart Steel I am looking for..." she would state firstly, before she was tackled by the happy Heartless next to her. Shego stood her ground, while Ms. Go continued to cuddle against her. Anyone would be angry, or annoyed to see Ms. Go act so childishly, but she could feel nothing to it... and it began to feel puzzling. She faced her to the direction of Medusa, and she eagerly hovered over and hugged her.
The Nobody Thief breathed in ones before dusting herself, looking to Sai again with a raised eyebrow, "What will it take?"[/glow]
