Post by Acteur de la Noir on Apr 19, 2010 17:04:49 GMT -5
Name: Acteur de la Noir
Species: Heartless
Gender: Male
Height: 5'8
Weight: approximately 135 lbs, though his constant levitation makes this unusual to determine
Chosen Fighting Style: Magic wielder
Alleigance: Dark
Appearance: A lanky humanoid who conceals his appearance behind a long, tattered black cloak and indigo hat, with a white ceramic mask worn over his face. The mask is nigh-featureless, save for eyeholes which reveal his sinister Heartless eyes; and a mouth that's usually curved upward in a sinister leer--however, by swiping his hand over his face, Acteur can change the appearance of his mask as he sees fit.
Beneath the cloak, his garb resembles that of a 17th-century nobleman--dark indigo trousers and suit jacket, white theater gloves with the Heartless insignia, and a black silk shirt with ruffles around the cuffs. His hair emerges from beneath the hat, tumbling around his shoulders in a tangled mop of silver-gray.
However, beneath his fancy garb and mask, Acteur's body is that of a puppet--false limbs, torso, and head, animated by a dark soul like some twisted variant of what Pinnochio once was.
Weapon: Phantom trickery, enchanted cane (melee weapon)
History:
All things may once have had a soul, or sorts...or, at least, the potential for a heart. Even the seemingly inanimate. Take for example, the puppets in the world of Pinnochio--under the exploitation of the fat puppermaster, Stromboli, many such inanimate figures were given a semblance of wondrous, spontaneous life...only to meet a cruel end after all their labor, hacked into kindling when they were worn out. Even though they had no life of their own--no true heart or soul--the semblance remained.
It was that very semblance of broken hope and shattered dreams that called out to Atticus when he was travelling between worlds, and stopped before of Stromboli's tent. Entering, the self-styled hero of the Heartless drank in the false spirits that those broken puppets might have once had...and, using his dark power, brought it into being. All that semblance of broken hearts and destroyed dreams was given spirit...and, through the dark trappings that would be cast over the shattered remains of the puppets, a body.
As all of those puppets had "lived" on the world of the stage, this new Heartless reflected it all--"he" was infused with all the flamboyance and flair for performance that the world of theater provides. When asked what he would call himself, the puppet paused for a moment, and then spoke with a voice both ghostly and elegant: "Acteur de la Noir."
His world cast into the darkness in an act of revenge, Noir now follows Atticus out of gratitude...and for the chance to impose his own macabre "play" upon those who would impose light against the coming dark. If all the world is a stage, then Acteur intends to dance upon it, even as he plucks the strings of his fellow "performers" as fits his fancy. He can be courteous, madcap, or vindictive as suits his fancy, often treating adversaries as fellows even as he prepares to oppose them. Treacherous and cunning, he nonetheless possesses his own sense of sportsmanship--twisted thought it may be. He prefers to let his fellow Heartless do the fighting while he directs from a distance; however, his knowledge of magic makes him a slippery customer in personal combat when he's forced to get his own hands dirty.
Abilities:
Heartless Puppeteer: Can summon lesser Heartless to fight for him, making them appear from the shadowy folds of his cloak with a flourish. While he shows a preference for puppet-based Heartless, he's capable of summoning other types if the situation calls for it. Because of his ability as a higher-rank Heartless, Acteur can subtly bolster the fighting ability of those he personally commands.
Phantom Daggers: Produces up to thirteen floating daggers from beneath his cloak. Elegantly-crafted with jet-black blades of crystallized darkness, they can be guided through the air according to Acteur's will, tracing curving paths through the air as they seek out his foes.
Magic Feet: Acteur can levitate several inches off the floor, lending a remarkable amount of agility to his movement and leaping ability. However, he can't use this to fly at great heights--it's more along the lines of the principle behind a hover-craft.
Abraca Step: A wily and elusive Heartless, Acteur can vanish in a puff of black smoke and dark purple sparks, avoiding a blow and re-materializing elsewhere in the area.
Illusion of the Doppleganger: Through dark magic, Acteur de la Noir can create up to seven phantom doubles of himself. Impossible to tell apart from the real thing except for those with mystical senses or keen eyes (the illusions will be slightly transparent), these clones will burst into smoke when struck, casting a lvl 1 gravity spell on the one who hit them.
Nightmare Puppetry: Through dark magic, Acteur de la Noir can esnare a hapless victim in shadowy puppet strings, infusing them with Darkness turning them into his "puppet." Their mind is trapped within a dark hallucination, an empty void of nightmarish masks where the voice of Noir taunts them--often about any personal failings they may have, especially if it led them to this state. In the meantime, their body is controlled by Acteur, manipulated to carry out his sinister will.
