Between Worlds...
The little light above her seat came on, indicating that they had acheived a velocity making it safe to leave their places. Abigail hoisted herself up. She didn't have time to get to a place or put her belt on, so she had been holding on for dear life this whole time! She clung to the back of her chair, breathing heavily and praying to Cosmos for respite from the madness. Slowly, one eye opened to observe the blinking light. "Oh... is it.. is it safe now?"
Agrias stood from her own seat, unbuckling the belt that had hold her in place to look back to Abigail, with a curious look, " You were not seated throughout the dispatch?" the knight blink, chuckling softly, "Such great strength you must possess to have held for dear life. A good sign of a warrior of light!" she smiled resting her hands on her hips, "Tis safe to go about as you wish, Lady Abigail."
The girl blushed darkly, standing up straight quickly and coughed somewhat before putting her hands behind her back. "Uhm... I guess... adrenaline, maybe?" she asked shakily before looking to the knight with a bashful expression. She lifted a hand to scratch at her cheek with a single finger. "Uhm... I'm afraid I don't know where to go... I've only seen this part of the ship..."
"I assure The General shalt not mind a tour by me." Agrias grinned, walking past her a few steps, to face the doorway to the loby, "Come-- I could even show you my most favorite of places, if thoust wishes."
Abigail smiled brightly, and followed obediantly. She seemed eager to be near Agrias! "Alright!" she said, catching up quickly and standing just behind her. "Lead on, Lady Knight!" she said, trying to imitate the woman's way of speach in an effort to impress her.
Agrias simply smiled and led the way to the corridors, of the Red rose, which where a little narrow at some points, only to open to larger rooms and stairways, " I've naught been able to explore the ship as much as I'd like, being that it is vast, and there've little time to enjoy the wonderous decks." she spoke sweetly, looking back to Abigail every now and then, whenever she would open doors for her. In a way, it also reminded her of the princess, whenever they went on their walks. "Most favorite spot of all of mine, is just ahead." The knight stood at one point at the end of a long corridor, facing drapes with Beatrix's Royal symbol upon it, and reached lightly to move the cloth aside. They were now directed at a spacious balcony, with a marvelous view of the world around them.
Abigail gasped audibly then moved forward to take it all in. To call this place beautiful was an understatement, and she could easily see why the woman loved it so. She walked out to the handrailing, looking all around as wind whipped in her hair gracefully and light from the sun reflected along her contour, giving her an innocent radiance. She looked to Agrias with a wonderful smile and a charming glimmer in her eyes. "This place is wonderful..." she said, her voice soft and marvelling.
The holy knight nodded, stepping along side her, and resting her gloved hands on the rails, "Indeed, it is..." she whispered, amber eyes piercing the horizon. The temperature was perfect, and not a single rain cloud in the sky, only white ones that floated by, sometimes Agrias liked to reach forward to touch them, whenever they were close. The wind would be a little rough, being the altitude so high, but it was managable. Her cape and hair would flow gently by it, and her armor would give little 'ding' sounds when the tips of brushed together.
Abigail watched her... and smiled a little. She liked seeing the softer side of the knight who had saved her. The way the wind caught her, flitted her hair and cothes about so carefree... it really was refreshing. She looked out over the horizon and sighed dreamily. "You cherish freedom..." she observed softly, leaning on the railing lightly to enjoy the breeze.
"Something beautiful, such as freedom, should be defended, My Lady." She nodded, looking to the girl with a smile. She blinked a moment or two, startled that, for a moment, she saw Ovelia... her outline at least, but her eyes played cruel tricks, as she was looking at Abigail.... there was no one else there. The knight stayed quiet, watching the girl to gather her mind again before looking off, " 'Tis the only thing, in the end, which we truly have."
The woman looked to her, catching only the faintest glimmer of that look at the last second. She blinked, then sighed a little, smiling despite herself. "It's not just for yourself you want freedom though, is it?" she asked softly, scooting a little closer though not trying to be obvious about it. "Is it your country?"
Agrias opened her mouth a moment, but no words would come out. She would close her eyes, and open them to attain a weak expression, and smile, "I..." she paused, her fists tightening, " I fight to protect the Princess... to shield her from the evil that would harm her." she shook her head, "In the end, I vow to protect all whom I care for, which is all, but... It is complicated to explain, I suppose. You see, my world... I don't know HOW I got here, Lady Abigail, and I know not of mine allies of the war, and I know not of the Princess... has she become Queen, and the scoundrel I left her with-- I ... do not know many things, and It bothers me to no end of what has happened." she shivered, shutting her eyes tightly, "She might think I have abandoned her, when 'tis not the case... and I have naught a way to tell her..." The Holy Knight sighed, opening her eyes and breathing deeply to calm down, "... I feel... useless, and must do all to fight the evil here, so it shalt not spread further... 'tis the least I could do.."
Abigail blinked, then sighed a little, reaching over to rest a hand on Agrias' gloved fingers. She looked up into her eyes, showing great concern and care for her. "You miss your home... your queen, your people..." she said, nodding. "You've... given so much for them, but I know in my heart that they do not think you've abandoned them..." she gave a supporting smile. "They're waiting eagerly for your victorious return, I just know it!" she faced her fully, brushing a strand of hair from her eyes as she did. "And I'm sure if your princess has become queen... that she's a strong ruler, because of your shining example!" she gave a little thumbs up.
The knight faced Abigail, her eyes starring deeply into the White Mage's before her arms suddenly wrapped around the girl, holding her tightly in an embrace. She stayed quiet for a few moments, only holding the girl before speaking softly, "...thank you, Lady Abigail... I needed muchly to hear those words..." she whispered, slowly releasing the girl, and blushing, "Ah- ah, sorry... I got emotional." she mumbled, shaking her head and reaching up to rub at the top of her head, "Forgive me."
Abigail... had acheived Nirvana. In that moment, when she was wrapped so wonderfully, so securely in the folds of the woman's arms. She sighed softly, feeling so warm and happy. The words drifted to her from all around, like being in the presence of Cosmos herself, though really it was a matter of soundwaves and solid matter (not the way she'd chose to remember it). Then, slowly, she was lifted from her place of wonder and calm... facing the woman, whom had a blush on her own cheeks as well! She blushed to match and stood straighter. "oh!" she said suddenly, as if snapping out of a nap. "It's alright! I'm here for you, after all!" She blinked, realizing maybe that was a bit too... um... close for what she intended to say. She covered her face a bit to hide her crimson features. "Uhm... you know what I mean...."
Agrias chuckled, her sadness had faded. She grinned widely towards the White Mage, her eyes determinant to destroy the evil that was Maleficent, and what made them. The knight held a hand to her chest, and balled it into a fist before bowing to the girl, "As I am for you, Lady Abigail, if ever in a doubt of your own, please, feel free to seek me."
Abby smiled again, lowering her hand to her heart when the woman bowed. She giggled out loud despite herself and looked off, smiling brightly and happily. "You don't have to call me Lady Abigail..." she said bashfully, waving a hand at her as she did. "Abby's fine by me..." she said, then looked to her again, still happy to be speaking with her privately. "Though... there are some things I wish to talk to you about... maybe somewhere not quite so windy?" she asked, holding a hand over her eyes to shield them from the debris of a cloud they were passing through.
"Of course!" The knight nodded, and turned to face the entrace to the corridor, but only moved when Abby was along side her. She looked forward and moved the fabric from place so Abigail could step in first, it was then when she followed closely, "What is on your mind, Lady Abig--..." she shook her head, smiling, "....Abby?"
Abigail giggled lightly at Agrias' slip, but forgave it. She stepped into the corridor, then looked to her, a curiosity in her eyes. "I... wanted to know your story... how you came to be in Gaia just in time to rescue me... I'm eternally grateful, but it's in my nature to be curious. I want to know everything... so I'm not so..." she looked down, feeling a little embarassed... "Well... BEHIND about everything..."
"How I came to Gaia.... huh.." Agrias pondered on the thought, crossing her arms and closing her eyes, thinking her words carefully, "Well, Beatrix and I were on our search for this Harlequin, by the name of Kefka." she mumbled, her eyes serious, "A powerful fiend, at that! He works under Maleficent, the Black Witch. Alas, we were too late for your world, but many had seem to escape, for that I'm grateful. We were aiding a fellow warrior by name of Cloud from the dark creatures known as Heartless, you met him, when we heard your cries for help. 'Tis how we met, though I'd wish it was on better terms..."
Abigail smiled a little, nodding. So these Heartless... what exactly are they? I've seen all manner of monsters around Midgar, but I've never seen their like before..." she walked alongside the knight, looking up at her, though her smile had faded to an interested and somewhat unsettled expression. "Usually, with monsters, there's no particular darkness to them, just an animalistic instinct to attack. With these things... I can feel a strange sensation in my heart like dread or... that feeling you get when you wake up from a dream in which you're falling only to find you still are..." she looked to her. "I can't explain it..."
"These creatures are called Heartless, but they are not heartless at all-- They are literally the hearts of victims fallen to the shadows, and they have been corrupted by darkness, as far as I can guess." The knight continued, until she found a nice place to rest with cussions. Beatrix' late queen was rather large at the deriere, so there was much space for them. There was a small botanical guarden near them. She bowed a little for Abigail, so she could have the first seating before she would sit. "The reason you feel dread, or negative emotions, is because of their ability to pull your heart into the darkness, 'tis why you must be strong, Abby. For, once you have fallen, they will take your heart, and turn you into one of them."
Abigail shivered at that thought even as she took her seat. "Monsters... that can swallow your heart whole..." she whispered, then looked down, a hand over her heart with a sad expression crossing her face. "But... if I can feel their presence so strongly...what does that say about my heart?" she asked, feeling very bad now. Here Agrias was a powerful knight, and Beatrix a strong and resilient General. Surely neither of them felt that horrifying tug at their heart, never got scared in the face of such creatures... Her eyes drifted to the garden... and wondered over the curves of the flowers there. She wanted so badly to sketch them, but she left behind everything to give chase. Why had she jumped headlong into this enterprise... A glance to Agrias reminded her... and she'd look down at her fingers to keep from blushing again.
"I frighten as well, but 'tis no reason to show such weakness to thine enemy." Agrias spoke softly, resting a hand now on the girl's shoulder, " The reason they sense your heart, is because you are pure, Abby." she smiled, " Still, do not fret, for in our journey, you will grow strong along with us, and even then." Agrias imitated the thumbs up Abigail had given to her earlier, "I shall protect you. I shall be your sword and shield, Lady Abby."
The woman giggled lightly when the knight complimented her. She looked up to her with a look in her eyes... a look of admiration and caring. She smiled brightly, then shook her head a little. "Alright... I'll try!" she said, nodding...
