The Hawaiian beach looked like a paradise. The Appleton family had decided that there would a vacation, at least her parents. Sarah fingered her hair, uncomfortable in the bikini underneath her clothing. They had arrived late last night in the rental car. The expensive car lay below the open landing.
Turning from the sight of the red eyesore, she noted the beach again. The waves were making a calming rhythm. "Sarah!" A voice called out with an annoyed edge. "We didn't come all the way here just for you to stay in the hotel!"
"Right mom. I'll be right there." She turned, following her parents towards the exit of the room. She knew why they had left her siblings behind. They had ways to avoid spending time with their parents. Also, they always made sure she got forced into this type of situation.
Adjusting her glasses, Sarah noted the floors they had to go down. Three floors with identical rugs. Simple and predictable for a small vacation. Exiting the lobby once the rickety elevator managed to stabilize, her parents pulled her towards the large beach. They had chosen Maui for their quest in making Sarah more open to other activities than music.

Plans... have a way of changing on a person. What was once a sunny day in the most tropical get away in the world... was soon to become a horror-filled nightmare bred of darkness and monsters. The instant the girl set foot outside that hotel, would be the moment her life would change forever...
Creatures, blacker than the night and hungry for the hearts of all alround them would begin to manifest as the skies began to darken. There were hundreds of them, spewing from pools of inky darkness like swarms of insects, hellish yellow eyes observing the world around them as they began to take form. They came in various sizes... Some were small, and rabbit like while others were taller, with more sharpened angles and athletic forms. Shadows and NeoShadows, respectively.
They would begin chasing tourists, tackling them to the ground and ripping out their glowing hearts to merge with darkness and make into yet more of their kind. More heartless types would be seen, clanking around in barely-fitting armor as they chased yet others. One in particular would take interest in the girl... its blank, yellow eyes looking at her with a diamond-shaped scar on its forehead between. It leapt at her, ready to claim her heart for the darkness...

Her parents took the first step. Sarah waited a moment, pulling the coat over her a bit more. "Ah, mom... I'll be back in a moment." Her voice sounded confident, but wanted to just see the scenery. The truth being she wanted to delay it for just a moment.
"Sarah. I will not allow you to just stay in that room. Now come-" The two had managed to pull her out of the hotel when an eerie wind blew in the air. Her father held her hand tightly, putting his other arm around her mother. Dark creatures were rising from the ground, landing from the various roofs around them. Sarah tugged at her hand, noticing one of the creatures coming closer. No matter how she tried to get away from her parents, her father wouldn't let go.
"Father! We have to get out of-" The two weren't budging. Chaos was going all around them, becoming hard to focus on just one thing. The last thing she could remember was her father letting go of her hand and running into a random direction.

He... wouldn't get far. The cowardly heart of a man willing to abandon his family was like candy to them... and they swarmed like ants to the sweetness of it all. Several NeoShadows jumped him, tackling him to the ground as they worked to free his... true disposition. The girl's mother was in about the same situation, leaving the girl all alone... with the diamond-scarred one getting closer, churring dangerously as it watched her, antennae flicking this way and that...
And then it sank into the ground, becoming a small puddle of darkness which no streaked right at her. It leapt from its hiding place not three feet in front of her, launching itself at her with great speed in an attempt to knock her to the ground and take what it wanted...

Her eyes widened, moving diagonally to dodge the creature. She had no time to make sure her parents were okay. People were being attacked left and right, her survival becoming the most important. She kept one hand near her glasses, knowing that she wouldn't be able to see if she dropped them. The grip was tight, not caring what was up ahead. She only needed to escaped.
'Why? What's going on here? Mom... Dad... My friends and brothers... sisters...' Her body moved as if it were on fire, not able to stop or know what was going on.

The heartless were hot on her tail, chasing her out of the resort and into the residential town areas. Many would peel off from the chase to start attacking citizes as they passed, but the one with the diamon-shaped mark on its head was adamant. It would chase this girl until it was completely unable to do so.
It wouldn't be long before they would chase her into the more overgrown areas, near the house of a particularly unusual family. Now, it wasn't unusual in the sense that they did love each other and they did the best the could to provide for one another. What made it unusual is that their pet dog was a highly dangerous alien experiment, and two of the residents came from outer space. That... and not many really thought the little girl was exacty the most sane either. Whatever the case, as soon as the girl was past the treeline, the heartless would begin to have trouble tracking her, and began to spread out in their search for her. Even the little diamond-scarred shadow seemed to have difficulty here... but it wasn't going to stop...
Not until her heart was theirs would they stop...

Sarah's body continued to move, unable to stop or think. The area coming up was overgrown and she could see the outline of a house. Was this important? She couldn't remember anything but to run. If she didn't keep running, the creatures would get her. Hopefully she would wake up soon. It would all be a dream, this vacation and the creatures.
'Please, help me someone! Let me escape from this nightmare!' Her hands tightened into fists, running faster.

Lucky for her, that particular family was usually off on some weird adventure or another, and today was no different. What that meant was that the large spaceship around back (which was BARELY hidden if at all) was unattended and flight capable. All she had to do was smack a few buttons to make her escape...
IF she could figure it out in time with the heartless right behind her! They were hot on her heels... can she make it?

A spaceship... Was she seeing things again? At least this nightmare offered some sort of escape. She didn't look back or stop, heading right towards it. She moved around the ship, slamming her hands against the surface to somehow open the strange vessel.
'Please open up! I don't care if this is going to launch me into Hell!' Any place was better than her current nightmare. Some sort of opening seemed to appear to her. She jumped in, glad that she found something that could close it up just as fast. She had no time to waste, it was now or never. She went towards what looked to be a control panel, pushing whatever buttons she could.

The heartless were pounding on the door, their claws making horrible screeching sounds against the bare metal. From the sounds of it, there were at least 30 of them out there, all trying to claw their way in. In contrast to this hellish sound... a cheerful voice would suddenly chime over the speakers.
"Welcome earth-human!" the voice said in a deep almost russian sounding accent. Screens would turn on to show a wide-faced, multi-eyed alien speaking with a huge grin. "Space vessel is ready for take-off, for eager to explore human type. Please to be inputting destination?" he asked, seeming amused that he was enabling a human to just take off to space. Such was the way with a mad spaceman.
Outside... the Heartless were still there... The one with the diamond shaped scar would peek in through a window. It bashed its face against the glass, causing it to rattle... maybe even chip slightly... It wouldn't take them another few seconds before they could bust in... and take what they wanted.

Sarah's mind did not think of the possibilities of where she could go. She needed to get out of here! "Anywhere this ship can go! I don't care if I end up in stuck in the middle of nowhere!" She looked towards the recording, feeling despair come into her mind. "Please!" Her hands tightened into fists, shaking still.
'Please! I just want to wake up from this dream!' Her hands held tightly to the console, sweating still.

The image of Jumba smiled broadly, like this was the funniest thing he'd encountered in a long time. "Going to: Nowhere! Please to be buckling in!" and with that, the engines began to rumble. In the span of two seconds, the ship rocketed upward into Hyperspace, barrelling headlong towards the World that Never Was...
On the hull... one loan heartless, one with a diamond-shaped scar, would cling for dear life...
