Jenova exited the portal, making sure that Edgar and Terra got out in one piece. All around her was what looked to be a ruined stone building. A few statues with an unknown entity stood with either cracked or broken swords. At the center of the unnamed figures a chair was set, golden and covered in soot. A few broken pillars lay in three quarters of their shape. Was this Cornelia?

Edgar, spear in hand slung over his shoulder, stepped out of the black rift, clutching to his chest; the journey through the Corridor was painful for someone as light as him, but he was glad to have made it through, albeit a slight bit nauseous.
Though he wouldn't admit it or put it into action, the king really wished to vomit right now, but the scenery stopped this track of thought; he looked up, bedazzled by the sight, and shook his head in disbelief; had this been a sight of Kefka's stand once? On a related note, had the mad clown returned?
"Excuse me, Jenova...what do you know of Kefka Palazzo?"

The clopping sounds of horses could be heard in the distance through this gutted-out, rotting hole of a temple. Outside, a single rider would be approaching from the south, clad in armor that made his already tremendous bulk seem all the more imposing. His helm was adorned with large horns, clearly a symbol of status won over many battles, as the armor was scratched here and there from long-forgotten assaults. A blue cape fluttered in the wind with the motion of his steed overtop of a massive sword strapped to his back.
The armored horse would whinny slightly upon approaching the ruined temple, and its rider would dismount. The sound of his impact was like a meteor-crash, a loud, dull thump that could be felt even in the bodies of those inside. Even his steps were heavy, as if he weighed a billion pounds of sheer muscle under those layers of metal. The sound of metallic scraping would accompany the pounding footsteps as he drew his sword and held it casually in his right hand.
Then... the sounds stopped. Pure silence, more profound and deep than the ocean, and infinitely more frightening. Wind would pass through the temple, fluttering his cape as he stood stock-still several yards from the entrance. Sudden motion as he lifted his sword to point to the doorway sans doors, metal grinding agianst itself as he did.
"WHO'S IN THERE?!" he demanded, his voice strong, deep, and resonant. "I can feel your presence! Step from the temple of fiends and face me!" he roared, with such authority that even a king would think twice about disobediance. "You have three seconds to make yourselves known, by order of the Knights of Cornelia!"
"ONE!" he barked, clearly not playing.
"TWO!" he warned...
What happens when he gets to three?

At the mention of Kefka, Jenova felt an odd sensation. One of Cloud's memories was responding to the name.
"You're not really the Think-And-Strike kinda kid, ARE you, Spiky? Ooh-wa-ha-ha!"
"I shall destroy all of your precious hopes and dreams; I will destroy EVERYTHING!"
Her hand reached her forehead, trying to figure out why the name was so important. The person seemed to be a nutcase. She didn't have much time to answer his question, as something came to the entrance of whatever they landed in. Without consulting Edgar of her actions, she opened the door and examined who was yelling. It was making her lose concentration.

Terra walks through the portal, stumbling a bit and holding back the urge to lose her lunch, she heard Edgar ask Jenova about Kefka and that instantly made the hair on the back of her neck stand up.
Terra began to look around and instantly noticed the resemblance of the area. "Edgar.......Edgar what is this place, why do i feel like I've seen it before?" she asked walking over to his side as Jenova opened the door.

As if he hadn't spoken, Jenova clearly ignored his question and moved towards the grand temple's large, crumbling doorway and peeked out; the king turned to his compatriot and rested a gentle hand on her shoulder.
"Personally I doubt either of us have ever been here, Terra, but I believe it seems so familiar only because this looks just like the sort of chaos that madcap clown used to muster up..."
Edgar shook his head and gave the green-haired girl a reassuring smile before dropping his hand and walking over to Jenova's side. He took Longinus and--on the handled end--pulled a switch; the two long ends, one containing the weapon's blade, as well as the base's side clicking out of their place and retracting, shortening the spear to the length of a baton.
He brushed Jenova's shoulder as he passed, and withdrew his spear, latching it onto a strap at his belt side. A king knew how to deal with knights, and hopefully his charisma would conquer the fearful aura coming from this intimidating fellow.
He strode down the steps of the entrance to the Temple of Fiends and stopped about several feet from the man, and bowed in a regal fashion. When he stood back up he extended his arms out and smiled:
"Hello there, Knight of...Cornelia, was it? I am Edgar Roni Figaro, ruler of the proud nation of Figaro, at your service."

The second Edgar finished, he'd find a massive sword thudding down right next to his head, literally an inch (or less) from his prized facial features. The "business end" was driven into the ground at Edgar's toes, and the handle was held in just one hand of the massive Knight. He looked down upon the man with those glaring eyes, seeming soulless even though he proclaimed himself a Knight of Cornelia.
"Spread your feathers and your lies elsewhere, peacock..." the man demanded, pulling his sword from the ground as he did. A swipe of his sword produced a massive wave of winds, pushing Edgar back to join his entourage. He brought it up to a ready position once more. "If you claim yourself a noble, the least you could have done was give the name of a kingdom which exists! Further, what noble steps from the temple of fiends, where monsters spring forth? Clearly, something is amiss..."
He clutched the sword tighter. "Only action can reveal truth! To arms!" The massive knight dug his heels in, ready for combat. "Hear my name and tremble! I am Garland! Hero and cheif protector of Cornelia!"

Jenova seemed to be satisfied with his actions. If she was to defeat him, then she had found him. However, she wondered if she would have to to end up killing him. Unsheathing Masamune, she walked past Edgar to make sure that Garland noticed her. Her hands held the familiar sword, ready to strike when necessary. "Fiends may come out of this place, but we are no such creations."

Terra stepped forward to help Edgar up by placing a hand underneath his arm. "See told you, you look like a peacock" she said with a smirk.
After Edgar had regained his footing, Terra pulled her sword from it's scabbard and stepped up beside Jenova "I know not if your friend or foe Garland, but strike at my friend, and you will have me to deal with." she stated as she raised her sword toward the knight. taking a stance with her sword in front, she readied a spell as well, if the knight might strike at them.

Edgar was taken aback at the sword crashing down beside his head, and then the sudden blow-back from this knight's powerful manipulation of the winds around him. Staggering back he reached for his spear and unhooked it from the belt at his side.
Terra caught him by hooking her arm through his and helped him regain his footing; when she drew out her sword he quickly reciprocated by extending the baton to its original, magnificent glory that was Longinus. He collected his weapon in both hands and readied it into a ready-to-leap position by kneeling down, and narrowed his cerulean eyes on the man before them.
"Temple of Fiends, he says! Ha! There be no fiends greater than those who strike down justice!" He then nodded towards the knight and addressed Jenova. "Apparently we've just found your Garland, my beauty, and...what a catch." He chuckled, and looked him over.
"Kind of looks like he's compensating for something with that oversized weapon."

"Hmph!" the large knight exhaled, his sword held tight in his hands. "Three warriors against one... cowardice shows its head!" he growled, then did something somewhat unexpected. He jerked the sword backward, forcing it to come split, slide, and fall into a new shape. A massive hammer. He slammed it downward, creating a shockwave of earth which would kick up a thick cloud of dirt and debris. "I'LL CRUSH YOU!!" he roared.
The fissure he created streaked toward the one in center, while Garland used it as a smokescreen. Despite his mass, the great knight of Cornelia leapt skyward with remarkably agility. Whipping his sword to his right, it unchinked yet more, extending its range by an additional ten feet. He swung it in massive semi-circular archs in a large X shape in front of him, intending to slice all three into thirds with merely two swipes.
If that wasn't enough, when he hit the ground from his leap, he twisted his hilt sharply, causing the chain to shorten and snap the sword back to its original configuration. However, when it was back to normal, he reached up and pulled from the back of the blade a second, almost machete-shaped sword roughly the size of Terra's crystal sword.
He swung around to attack his two sides, in case any tried to attack when he landed. Upon completion of his massive assault, he brought the swords together and held the single, giant sword in a defense position, ready for whatever came next.
"BRING IT ON!!"

Jenova's mind went to work almost as soon as his attack had begun. Though the type of attack was not exactly in her memories, she knew how to survive such a feat. She couldn't rely on her skills to save Edgar and Terra, but knowing them... They must have some skill to have been able to hold any weapons. Moving as if on air, Jenova kept light onto her feet while dodging Garland's main attack. When he finally went into a defensive stance, she was already standing behind him. Her sword still in the stance she had already assumed in front of him. "Cowards would have ambushed you."

"HASTE" Terra says, as her magic flows and surrounds her, making her feel faster and quicker.
Terra sees Garland attack coming and with the haste spell on her, dodging it was more then easy. She bounced out Garland's reach and back up to the top of the stairs to the temple. There she plants her sword in the ground in front of her , "Edgar i'm going to need a sec" she says as she clasps her hands in front of her she prepares her spell.

The king was definitely not expecting this attack but sure made out well in the long run; he was still alive, even if shunted back several feet and barreling straight into a boulder nearby.
His spear had shielded his front when he was struck, but this wouldn't be enough to throw him back. He staggered, bleeding slightly from his neck and shoulder, and cocked his head back to the Knight.
"Gah! Fiend!"
He saw Jenova make her move to blindside Garland, and he grinned, coughing up some blood and quickly wiping it away in shame. He called out to Terra for her to proceed forward before he crawled back, working on a spell to cure himself.
"Curaga!" he called. When fully healed, he stood up and scaled the steps, turning quickly and spinning Longinus several times before aiming it down at the knight.
"A war-mongering loser like you...you should be ashamed of youself, the dishonor you present to the role of knighthood..."

"Hmm..." Garland muttered, glancing at the three as they spread out, just as he expected them to. The entire idea was to get them in seperate locations, and force them into a different tactic. Two were posturing, trying to talk their way out of things, but one of them was preparing a spell. That would be his target, and his final test for these so-called "royals".
A swipe of his sword would produce four small cyclones around him, granting a momentary shield as he turned his attention to Terra, still standing on the stairs. "Let's see your honor, then!" With that, he hefted his sword up and threw it like a javalin at the woman. His attention, however, was on the "King"s next move...
